Going on a short trip to USA. Best things to buy in USA and bring back to Australia to sell right now?

Dear helpful souls,

Please help me out here with some nifty ideas :)

I am paying an arm and a leg for my airfares and would like to subsidize my upcoming trip to USA.

Anything not too bulky or heavy to buy and bring back on an airplane?

I will probably sell through ebay Australia or gumtree.

Thanks a million.

Happy holidays.

If you're going with a few people- or even by yourself, purchase a few of these speakers.

    http://www.amazon.com/Pioneer-SP-BS22-LR-Designed-Bookshelf-…

Rave reviews for their price-$127 USD ($147AUD) - its best price is $330 in Aus. Biggest issue? It has a 22 pound (10kg) packaged weight. However the speakers themselves weigh 9.1 lbs (4 kilos). Just take them out and package together into bags.

That's $183 per speaker set profit if you sold at market prices. However you would probably have to sell it around $220 out of reasonableness. $73 per set of speakers MINUS excess baggage costs..you're looking at maybe $50 net profit per speaker set sold. And they will sell.

So 10 of these babies = $500 minimum profit which is half your airfare paid for using only 45kilos of baggage!

    • Thanks president. Great stuff. I will vote for you:)

  • Trading cards! Light, not too bulky.

  • You will have to pay GST and duty when you arrive. Also, if it is commercial and valued over $1000, you need a customs broker.

    • Also, make sure you claim any GST back on goods you take out of the country. Good time to buy a laptop or tablet..;)
