  • Thanks for the heads up. Grabbed Lupin part 1. Thinking about grabbing part 2 from Big W for $36. Means you can get parts 1 and 2 in total for a pretty similar price to what JBs are charging just for parts 1 or 2.

    • I think Big W's version isn't the "hardcover book edition" of part 2 (which is what bookworld has for part 1) so just be aware of that if its a problem.

      • Cheers. Would probably rather pay the extra to JBs and get the matching set.

        • I ordered part 2 from Big W during the 50% off sale and got the hardcover version.

        • Thanks for that, wasn't sure since they show a bluray cover in the photo.

        • Yeah they seem to use stock images for most of their blu rays. AFAIK there's no alternative version of Lupin for now so should be safe to order it from Big W or anywhere else.

  • +1

    Hello,

May not be the same box design but Amazon has the complete Bluray for USD$25.49 at 61% off RRP

    http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00CDV4JG0/ref=s9_psimh_gw_…

  • These are so old.. and not that cheap when you consider how many episodes and box sets they come in. Each episode they come in is 22 mins. Utena reuses the same animations over and over, and it's not very pretty animation at that.

    • Utena and Princess Knight are the only 'old' ones.
They're cheap compared to what it costs to get the same sets locally and overseas,

      • What I'm saying is, they're overpriced everywhere, here and overseas, so a bargain compared to them is technically a bargain but still expensive.

        • Sounds like you just don't like anime in general.

        • I love anime actually. I just don't like paying these prices for them. I get them when they're on sale at Amazon. I still think I've been overcharged though.

Remember, ep 1-12 sounds like a lot but they are 20 minute episodes once you take out the opening and end credits. It's not that good a price even for $13. And then there's the other two sets of 12 episodes for $36 each… Unless you plan to only watch 1/3 of the series. So that's about 4 hours of entertainment per set.

These days I just watch them on crunchyroll.

        • It is overpriced especially in Australia but I think that's just because it's a pretty niche market and that niche market will buy them regardless of the price

Blu ray prices in Japan are ridiculous at like $80-100 for a 2 episode blu ray and this leads to Japanese companies making it very expensive for western distributors like Madman or Funimation to license them. As far as I know Madman and Hanabee license their titles directly from the US because it's simply too expensive for a small company like them to license them directly from Japan.

I guess the one good thing we can take away from it is that anime blu-rays/dvds tend to hold their value more than your typical dvd release which are worthless nowadays…
