Playing Need for Speed Rivals on Xbox 360 4Gb - Installation Error

NFS Rivals wont install, it comes up with the message "device not allowed game only permits installing HD content on the xbox 360 hard drive", I have also tried usb stick without luck, has anyone managed to play this game on the 4gb model?

  • It wont fit on the 4GB model as I think it's about 7 GB. You should be able to play it without installing though? With the USB stick did you format it on the xbox?

  • +1

Go to jb hifi, and get 320gb expansion hdd selling for $69. Or try this with a 16-32gb usb drive http://support.xbox.com/en-AU/xbox-360/accessories/usb-flash…

  • Thanks folks, ordered the 320gb from JBHifi
I had formatted the flash drive using xbox, the game still wont install.

    • Weird, should have.

I found the "you can't play this game unless you do this and this and this and this on your console" a little silly.

That's what PCs are about, stop taking our thing. We are supposed to make the user jump through hoops, play extra money because the device isn't fully equip to play the game that was developed for it and overall prevent the user from just picking up and playing.

  • Need for Speed Rivals Xbox 360 Installation Information

Need for Speed Rivals on the Xbox 360 requires an Xbox 360 Hard Drive with 3GB of storage space for a mandatory installation of game disc content. you will be prompted to perform this installation the first time time you boot up your game.

You cannot play your game without this installation, nor can it be installed on flash memory sticks, or internal flash memory—such as the internal memory of the Xbox 360 Slim, or 4GB model. Hard Drives are available and sold separately for the Xbox 360 Slim/4GB, Arcade, and Core consoles

Thats a pain, no flash memory, why i wonder

    • I'm no scientist, but I do know more about science than any scientist living today.

Assuming it has to do with read speeds on the USB drives, they're probably usb 1 considering how old the xbox 360 is. Means it is probably a ton slower to read whatever you install on it, than an official hard drive would be.
