Recharge using $30 Telstra Prepaid Starter Kit

Bought 6 starter kits for $10 each and would like to know if anyone has used a starter kit to load an existing prepaid sim, thus loading $30 to it. Creditme2u will give $29 credit but will not let you avail benefits if loading $30. Cheers

  • it cannot be done

  • For $30 starter kit, YES, I tried this several times via Telstra online chat. Not sure about $10 ones.

    • Changed the title to the correct amount. Thanks for the reply, at least I get to keep one number while using the rest of the sims as recharges.

    • recently?

  • Do you still get the encore bonuses?

  • You could port yr number with Telstra to another company, like a $2 sim from another company or like amaysim.com.au that offer free sim pack, number should port in a day, then with your next $30 Telstra sim port your number back to Telstra :)

    • Interesting. Can you port the same number in/out multiple times?
Can you receive calls on another company's $2 sim without credit?

      • +1

yes to both questions, they always want your business back, simcards usually expire in 6 months but I know my aldi $5 starter kit has 12 months, all numbers usually receive calls and sms even if n. credit, and you still can make emergency calls also even if simcard has expired, so worth to carry a very cheap long lasting battery life phone in glove box for emergency's :-)

  • From personal experience, the only way is to port your number to a different brand SIM then port back. I tried using a $30 Starter Pack as a "recharge voucher" to continue with my Encore benefits and the Telstra customer service (phone hotline) said this was not possible, as they cannot move an existing Telstra number to another Telstra SIM. People who had previous success may have been lucky, or maybe only can do via Telstra Chat … but I think they are clamping down on this method of top-ups. One can only but try! (Also, I don't know if you lose all your accumulated Encore credits in the "bank" if you port out…)
