[Steam] Alan Wake $2.99 USD (Franchise Pack $3.99 USD) 90% off

160

People were pretty disappointed at this being posted last time, as the regular price had been jacked up. So I thought I'd point out that it's now 90% off and a pretty good deal for a well-respected game. :)

When the wife of the best-selling writer Alan Wake disappears on their vacation, his search turns up pages from a thriller he doesn’t even remember writing. A Dark Presence stalks the small town of Bright Falls, pushing Wake to the brink of sanity in his fight to unravel the mystery and save his love.

Presented in the style of a TV series, Alan Wake features the trademark Remedy storytelling and pulse-pounding action sequences. As players dive deeper and deeper into the mystery, they’ll face overwhelming odds, plot twists, and cliffhangers. It’s only by mastering the Fight With Light combat mechanic that they can stay one step ahead of the darkness that spreads across Bright Falls.

With the body of an action game and the mind of a psychological thriller, Alan Wake’s intense atmosphere, deep and multilayered story, and exceptionally tense combat sequences provide players with an entertaining and original gaming experience.

This is an awesome game and well worth a few dollars.

One of my favourites of all time, this is a bargain at this price.

    • I thought it was good, but it was kind of repetitive. The first chapter was awesome. Then it started to wear out its welcome. The parts where objects fly into you got really annoying, and so were the goo that you'd have to shine your flashlight on to vaporize. It seemed to just serve as an artificial time sink.

Some of the chapters seemed really long I felt. Especially that chapter that took place over two days. I thought they should have broken it up more into shorter chapters but with more of them.

I still recommend the game, but I'm not as crazy for it as you guys are.

  • It's alright. Well worth that price for sure. But it gets pretty frustrating. Alan can't exactly run very fast… or very far. My friends and I call it Alan Walk. You run out of ammo pretty quick too. But I have to admit, it's one of the few in my collection that I've actually finished. The story is really good, I have to admit.

So this one gets an up vote from me.

    • Just so you know, the difficulty was changed in the PC version.

Normal on Xbox = Easy on PC
Hard on Xbox = Normal on PC

Hard on PC = profanity hard on Xbox I guess

You might want to play on Easy.

I presume it's done because they think mouse and keyboard will give you an advantage and Medium would seem Easy. But I played with an Xbox 360 controller so…
