CHEAP Spanner Set with Large Spanners?

Every cheap spanner set i have seen does not include spanners over 19mm. Been looking for ages willing to spend up to $100 on a full set of spanners that include larger spanners. I would also consider Non "full" sets that don't include the smaller spanners but don't want to spend over $30. I don't care about brand or quality just need the spanners and can't afford to pay hundreds.

  • Individual Spanners Supercheap auto up to 32mm I think

    • Yeah but expensive way to get all of them. Much better to find a deal on a set?

  • One thing to consider:
    BME common tightening torques:

    M10 wrench 15,16,17 80Nm [59Ft-Lbs]
    M12 wrench 18,19 140 [103]
    M14 wrench 21,22,23 220 [162]

There may be a good reason cheap wrenches only go to 19mm :-p I had a friend who used to buy a Sidchrome T-Bar to remove his Kombi rear axle nut - and swap it out under the lifetime guarantee afterward ……

For anything over 19mm I'd seriously consider buying single as and when needed - and go for Sidchrome/Fuller/Crescent or the like. I'm assuming you're Oz, so maybe check out your local Lions Shed or Scout sales - I'd rather have a rusty looking Fuller that wasn't going to spread/burst than a nice shiny Yum-Cha with my knuckles on the line.

One cheap brand I do remember being Ok tho - Gedore, which was an Indian brand. The bar' part of the spanners look a bit suss, as the surface wasn't smooth but uneven with a casting' look, but the chrome was locked on tight, was clearly ` old school' [ steel —>> nickel —-> chrome] and they stood up to a lot of brutal treatment.

    • re: "Gedore, which was an Indian brand."

Gedore Tools is one of the largest tool companies in Germany. GEDORE is a letter combination of (GEbrueder DOwidat REmscheid). Gedore was founded by 3 brothers (gebrueder) named Dowidat from Remscheid Germany. Samstag Sales is an authorized distributor of GEDORE German Tools made by the Dowidat family.

So that's why, as you stated … "they stood up to a lot of brutal treatment."

  • Many thanks for the help, i'm leaning toward the ebay listing cheers martismo. I understand about the quality issue with larger spanners but i rarely use them so its just not justified and i'm willing to take the risk.

  • +1
