'Touchpad' vs 'Mouse' or Gaming Mouse

i don't know about you , but i find the 'touchpad on a laptop so hard to use and it's no wonder people are buying 'wireless mice' and other input devices e.g. trackball. because this 'touchpad thing' on a laptop is so hard to get used to controlling. it doesn't feel quite right in my hand!

had to just let that out of the bag…

by the way, anyone know what's the best gaming mouse to get right now with a reasonable price tag?

I never knew anyone who would use the touchpad to play games(COD, Bioshock, GW2, etc.) on a laptop.

I don't think anybody uses a touchpad to play games. The best gaming mouse at a reasonable price would be the Razer Deathadder mouse. I have it - and it really helps with playing FPS games.

Best value gaming mouse are currently the Logitech mice at DSE. (g500s currently $54 there and g400s $41 or g602 $60) well under RRP

Razer products are all overpriced but the Deathadder is alright buy if you want razer.

  • touchpad with games is doable, you eventually learn how to make it work (though depends on your laptop, some trackpads pause when using the keyboard at the same time) but a mouse is ultimately better, though it really depends on what you play
'competitive'/ fast paced or precision necessary games a mouse will always be better but if play other games like 3rd person games are usually easier with a controller (playstation, xbox or other 3rd party) like GTA, just cause 2, spelunky, elder scrolls

  • Touchpad with games is do-able but it will quickly tire you out - far too finicky.

For value for money the Logitech "G" mice are frequently on special at Dick Smith or JB Hifi. Razer are worth a look too but you very rarely find them at a sensible price.

  • if you're spending ~$50 you can get razer mice for that price depending on where you look

    • Thats a good but rare deal. However the logitech are still slightly better value unless you are looking deliberately for the deathadder.

  • I play alot! of games so for me a good mouse was important but If you want a awesome mouse that is going to last you then i suggest spending a little bit extra (Around $90) and go for the Logitech G700

Ian from Best Gaming Mouse :)

    • The G700S (newer version of the G700) can be bought for as low as $74.99. So the G700 (discontinued) could be bought for well less than $90. Just letting you know

      • Do you mind linking the G700s for $75?

        • I said 'as low as'

Dick smith had it for $75 during their Logitech sale a few weeks ago.
