MacBook Pro screen cracked under AppleCare. Should I claim or will I void my warranty?

Hi absolutely devastated. I have a 2012 macbook pro aluminium uni body and I cracked my screen. For the life of me don't know how. just opened it and there it was 4 cracks running from top to bottom it works okay just cracked. need to get it fixed before I'm found out as this has happened with previous lap tops and don't need another lecture on how I should be taking care of my things from hubby. I have read that if I claim under apple care warranty I may have my warranty voided due to misuse. So my question is should I bypass apple altogether and get it fixed or try under warranty also any recommendations on who can do this in Sydney?
Thank you

  • Lucky you didn't buy the Retina model then. The screen can't be repaired, apparently.

hope they fix it for free or cheap but i dont like your chances! post response and cost as this is a problem many will have

  • The guy got back to me today after looking at photos i sent him he has said so far it is approved but i have to take it in. I have a bad feeling that when i do they will reject it as i have some wear on the aluminium body, I'm pretty sure was not at fault. Who know may be lucky will let you know monday when i get a response.

Just updating as to what happened AppleCare are honouring the warranty and fixing it. I realised after going in and talking to the tech guy it might if been due to the hinge being tight which caused too much pressure when opening and closing so they said this was a fault. I'm so happy I dont have to fork out for another screen.

    • Good result. Congrats.

    • Yes. Well done. And kudos to Apple :)

I love a happy consumer story.

      cheers
