Booking a New Years Eve cruise from Brisbane Dec 29 2014

Just wanting to know if anyone's had experience with this cruise, Brissie to Pacific Islands 12 nights, how it was and tips to get the cheapest fares. Looking to book a Balcony room. Its about $3,037 each from my research. Wanting to book it soon or should i wait for a sale?

  • Yes, my wife and I took that cruise, presuming you are talking about the P & O Pacific Dawn.

P & O is a fairly down market cruise company compared with others that we have taken (we've done 4 cruises on various lines) BUT, that cruise out of Brisbane was probably the BEST most fun cruise we ever did. Excellent atmosphere, good bands both on deck and in lounges, and a happy holiday atmosphere among the crowd (which are younger than other cruise lines).

Book NOW. The price will only go UP (or discounts dry-up) because this specific cruise is FULL every year due to the time of the year it is run.

Caution: If booking an outside cabin or balcony, make sure it is not "obstructed view". P&O failed to disclose this to us, with the result that our cabin looked straight into a life boat hanging in our way. Even worse, they had various crew practicing evacuation procedures in "our" lifeboat almost every day - and therefore totally depriving us of PRIVACY.

Further advice. The least ship movement, for sea-sickness purposes is to avoid having your cabin in either the front or back of the vessel. Also get the "middle" top to bottom.
