South America Trip - Machu Picchu & Galapagos Island

Hi Everyone,
I just saw this $799 deal on livingsocial: Trek Along the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu Seven-Day Inca Trail Peru Tour for One Person (Value $1,761) —> Link

It's with Valencia Travel Cusco, wondering if anyone ever had any experience with them with similar trips? I checked Trip Advisor and it seems to have a very good rating. I'm currently deciding on whether I should book a tour with Intrepid/G Adventures, or try this instead.

Also, wanting to know if anyone has ever been to Galapagos Island, which tour operators did you use?

Any advice/recommendation is appreciated :)

Thanks!

  • I have emailed living social the following:

    I found this deal:https://www.livingsocial.com/escapes/963567-7-day-inca-trail-adventure-tour-in-peru?msdc_id=988-melbourne-north

    1. Is it in Australian dollars?
    2. The closest I can compare to on website link is this: http://www.valenciatravelcusco.com/trek-along-the-inca-trail…
    3. Does this deal include flights from Lima to Cusco?
    • oh good point, I thought it's already in AUD. Let me know what they say. Are you planning to go to macchu pichu as well (if yes, when)?

  • i dont know about the Valencia travel as Ive never used them but i think this is standard price for a 7 day inca trail. There are plenty of operators and have a good look around (including ones that are ethical!)

I made my own way to machu piccu by train/bus from Cusco and it was great - didnt have time to do the inca trail unfortunately and weather was bad too at the time…

As for Galapagos island, I went on the ship called the Beluga and was perfect food/guide/ship/ppl/etc - booked it directly with the ship owners check out the website: http://www.galapagoscruiselinks.com/index.php

Again plenty of ship operators so do your research and depends on what ur after + ur budget! But cant recommend it enough so im sure you'll have a great time! :)

    • Thanks mrshorty :) Out of curiosity which itinerary did you do for galapagos islands? Can't seem to find Beluga on the website, maybe it's currently not available. Did you also go to other countries like chile, argentina, bolivia, colombia, brazil, etc?

      • Out of curiosity which itinerary did you do for galapagos islands?

Went on the Fernandina Itinerary. I just googled them and theyve got their own site http://www.belugagalapagos.com/

Did you also go to other countries like chile, argentina, bolivia, colombia, brazil, etc?

Yup sure did - landed in Santiago Chile, then headed to Valparaiso, then to the dessert in San pedro de atacama, uyuni salt flats, lake titicaca, death road biking in la paz, macchu piccu and then ecuador/galapogas islands! Didnt have time to go to argentina, columbia, brazil :(

        • The ship looks very nice and your itinerary looks good too. I emailed them and they quoted around US$3630 for 7 nights 8 days, I think it's too much for me :(

I might got for a cheaper option with tourist superior class yacht, hopefully it's good enough.

Sounds like you had a blast there :) I'm flying to Santiago too, will probably do similar stuff but it'll be comfort style haha

  • Latest response is:

So no flights to Cusco return from Lima????
No sure how you use voucher for date you want?

  • We used Condor Travel and found them excellent - as well as the normal stuff they offered great advice on high altitude acclimatisation and were very professional. Anecdotal evidence from fellow travellers about other companies left us glad we used them

    • Cool will check this one, which tour(s) did you do by the way?
