Might be able to find them cheaper elsewhere. I actually have the z200's and they're alright for a set without a sub. Also the line in is important for me as I hook my consoles up to my pc screen.

    • I have the 2.1 set above. It's got decent sound considering how cheap it is.

However if you are after a 5.1 system, z506 has been cheaper lately around the $75 mark

  • i'm a proud owner of one of these and cannot fault them for the price i paid and the fact they are simply computer speakers - http://au.creative.com/p/speakers/gigaworks-t40-series-ii

previously had a base range logitech 5.1's which had really plain old standard sound and just got tired managing the 5 million wires at the back of my desk so decided for simple 2.0 speakers which still packed a nice bass and sang nice notes…

now these aren't the best and also not the cheapest but thinking they will last a while and still work way beyond the life of your computer why not the extra investment?

  • Budget end speakers (below $150) (from whirlpool: http://whirlpool.net.au/wiki/rmp_sg_whirlpoolpcs_audio)

    • Altec Lansing VS2621($47 – $60), 2.1, better bass than most at this price.
    • Creative Gigaworks T20 ($75 – $80), 2.0, better overall sound and detail than most at this price.
    • Edifier M3200 ($70 – $100), 2.1, Cleaner than many in the price with a half decent sub for the price.
    • Altec Lansing FX3021 ($109 – $150), 2.1, Good speaker if you can get it cheap. I don’t want to pay $150 though.
    • Edifier M2600 ($109 – $150), 5.1, Possibly the best low budget 5.1 around.
