Good Wii U deal coming next week from Target!

Hey guys. I decided to speak to the boss of Target because I'm sick of these crappy deals for the Wii u around. He replied to me and said in target's next week catalogue they will have a great deal on the Wii u in a bundle so everyone keep your eyes out for the next catalogue which starts 23/1 :)

I hope it is not a good deal :p I just got mine last week

    • Why neg this? It is obviously tongue-in-cheek.

  • +7

Lol; Wii U Basic 8GB pack; $5 off!

  • +1

It's probably going to be a bundle effectively throwing in Skylanders/Infinity for free.

  • +2

The current $50 off deal for Basic + Skylanders + Nintendoland isn't bad but not great. I really just want a premium bundle with Mario & Luigi but not going to pay $428 for it especially when that's nearly Xbox One/PS4 money!

    • +2

Yep the $428 price tag for that bundle everywhere is ridiculous! When Nintendo dropped the price by $50 in America a while back they didn't pass that drop onto Aussies as well! Bloody bull crap if you ask me. $350 is about what it's worth

      • Agreed - Wouldn't mind one but not willing and cant justify paying a premium

  • Wouldnt mind a basic, with the controller/sensor bar pack for 299.

I really dont want skylanders/infinity/nintendo land.

    • +1

I suspect your wish will come true given that pack was available for that price previously at Target and $279 at Kmart too. Lets hope the previous $229 mistake pricing from Target makes a return! :)

  • Nah told me the bundle will include just dance 2014

  • +1

This is the Exact msg he sent me—
Hi,We have the best price in the market coming up in the catalogue next Thursday (23/1) on a great bundle with 'Just Dance 4'.

    • +1

Target has previously had a Wii U Premium bundle with Just Dance 4 - perhaps they're clearing out any remaining Nintendoland bundled ones so they can just stock the Super Mario bundles instead.

      • How many mario games are available on Wii U?

        • +1

Super mario wii u (+ luigi expansion/stand alone), super mario 3d world.
Don't think others are out yet. mario kart 8 is this year sometime.

        • Also "Mario & Sonic at the Winter Games."

    • Damn. I have to admit I'm amazed JD does so well on the Wii- dancing games seem to make much more sense on Kinect :S (admittedly my gf and I play JD on 360 lol).

      • I traded my Just Dance to EB (AND GOT A WHOPPING, BANK-BREAKING THIRTEEN DOLLARS!) because one-remote dancing is not very appealing. I would probably get it on kinect, if I weren't deathly afraid of the all-seeing Eye of Sauron.

something tells me that there will be a lot more discounting going on.

    • Nintendo have known it for months they have just finally come out and admitted it. I doubt we will see another price cut until after mid year as they are expecting games like donkey kong tropical freeze, Mariokart 8 and super smash bros to move consoles.

      • Yes, they have known about it for a while for sure. Maybe there is not as much built-up inventory as that would suggest. I guess we'll wait and see.

        • Curiously enough, even though I am an obvious Nintendo fanboy, I'd argue that there's more reasons to buy a Wii-U than an Xbox720 or PS4 right now.

Unless you're super shallow and need cutting edge graphics for your unlimited amounts of linear corridor shooters and SPAWTS.

Until Uncharted 4 comes out. Or Last of Us 2. Then I'm doing a backflip on my entire argument and buying a ps4 immediately.

Besides, everyone said the same thing about the 3DS's launch titles and its sales are accelerating pretty quickly now…. but it didn't reach such levels of absolute dread before some decent titles saved it.

It's worth watching. Nintendo's far from finished. But if they keep doing dumb shit they're going to get in some serious trouble. (Like, I don't know, giving the Zelda franchise to Tecmo Koei for example, and let's face it, the 2DS wasn't a brilliant strategic move. And don't get me started on the Wii mini. I love you Nintendo, but jesus. Stawp it.)

Well, if you dont have a good computer for all the cross platform games and like the millions of nintendo platformer exclusives, sure.

3DS sells well mainly due to pokemon. If Nintendo did a semi hd version of Pokemon Z for the wii u, I could see it helping the console a fair bit. The obvious choice would have been to bring it out when xy came out on the 3DS though.

I consider a dynasty warriors zelda a dumb move too, I cant see it do anything but hurt the image of zelda.

I really want MH4 HD announced for the wii u this year along with the 3DS version for the west.

        • +2

I'm pretty sure that the 3DS was selling well long before Pokemon was on the scene mate.

        • -2

Yeah starting from when they announced it I bet :-P

        • I bought one for Animal Crossing :D Which was indeed before pokemon

        • HEY NINTENDO, remember how giving your IP's to a small Japanese game developer that hadn't made a good game in ten years worked out last time? Yeah? Remember Metroid Other M and Team Ninja? No? Alright then, you just go ahead and give Tecmo Koei Zelda then. Whilst you're at it you should give Namco something like Kirby.

Kirbymari Damacy (In all seriousness, I would buy that. I change my mind, I would totally be cool for Nintendo-Namco collabs.)

Also, whilst I'M at it: Nintendo. Retro make the best games of your IPs. Please give them Star Fox. PLEASE GIVE THEM STAR FOX! Super Smash Brothers and Mariokart were already fine.

        • I totally just don't get animal crossing.

        • You don't understand the appeal in a game where the entire point is to pay back a loan, and all you can do is fish, catch bugs, talk to people, and write letters?

Clearly you are a lost cause.

(I am joking :3 Nobody blames you for that. But you know. It's pretty great lol)

        • Lol, I only played it for a bit but I was pretty lost as to the point, haha.
For some reason I have finished many harvest moon games though.

        • The 3DS has been the top selling console for quite a while now except maybe 2 or 3 weeks of the past 12 months, when the ps4 and xbox came out but now those 2 consoles are moving very little as well, Xbox one only sold 100,000 consoles worldwide from Jan 7th-14th!!

        • One of Capcom's lead managers/designers came out and said that making a game for Xbox One or PS4 is eight-to-ten times more cost and work than to make one for ps3 or xbox360, and that's why we see so many XboxOne and Ps4 games going for the truckloads-upon-truckloads of microtransactions on the top of paying $90.

And considering the Wii-U has previous gen graphics, it should be pretty appealing to code for, but I dunno.

I have no idea if this is true, but a lot of sites are saying this morning that Nintendo is working on a new console, Nintendo Fusion, along with a handheld, the Fusion DS. And it plays all Wii-U games.

I am feeling the buyer's remorse.

        • That's probably due to them not having pre-existing engines and code to work with on the new gen consoles. They have to work for their money right now.

  • Here are the deals everyone.
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/130888

  • I managed to just get a monster hunter bundle for $399.

    • So has anyone tried to price match with another retailer?

      • I tried yesterday, got a $100 gift card for kmart. Kmart had none, when I checked their PDT they never even stocked it apparently :(
Price match would of been fine other wise.

  • Anyone had any problems with getting the wii u to work through the router? My internet and downloads work fine on the wii u, but the games in monster hunter keep getting blocked by nintendos old timey misunderstanding of internet. I've tried opening ports, dmzing the wii u, static ips. Nothing is helping :'(

Note that on the 360/xbone I have open nat, I never have any connection issues.

    • I was going to suggest a static IP but see you tried that now.

      • Yeah, I guess id better give nintendo support a call, lol.
Its just weird since I dont have this problem on the 3DS.

    • How are the games getting blocked? Are you attempting to join a room and it fails? Or are you at the main login in page and it fails at that point?
Games like Splinter Cell are just broken online and won't work unless the Stars and Planets align which you sing a magical chant.
While Monster Hunter doesn't have any outstanding problems, the only issue I have ever had with it was when my Wii and Wii U were on the outer rim of my Wifi.
Potentially try shifting the Wii U closer to the access point, they fixed a lot of games (Smash Bro's, MK and MH's online) back on the Wii for me.

      • Yeah there is a long to whinging online about it.

Yeah its when I attempt to join an actual room.
1/10 times it works, but its annoying because like I want to join the one that is actually the right ones for my HR rank.

Suposibly its due to my modem, which works fine and lets me host/join any game on every other system, except the wii u. Something about it being a total dick to get the static ip actually applied too.

        • The room thing is random. Some rooms that are hosted by Germans or French and some US rooms I have trouble with, the Aussies I don't. I am HR 70(?), my cousin is HR 120. We host rooms pretty often and don't have issues joining each other.
Its an odd issue to experience. Room errors I find are random at worst for us.

        • Yeah its not an everybody problem, but that doesnt help me much, lol.

        • what router are you using? perhaps updating its firmware or running custom firmware may fix the issue (something such as DD-WRT if its compatible and your willing). I use DD-WRT on my router.

        • can't update, ITS THAT BAD.
Telstra shit ftl (Not my router).

People whinging on whirlpool about it, for the last 2 years.

  • Just got nintendo land from cashies for 10 bucks, lol.

    • Boring as hell on your own after an hour or two but such a laugh with 4 or 5 players.

      • +1

Have you played that Octopus dance?

        • Yes, failed miserably at it lol

  • Bargain :)

  • +1

Looks like JB have semi matched it without nintendo land. Guess if you dont have a target near you or its sold out
    http://www.jbhifionline.com.au/game/wii-u/wii-u-8gb-skylande…
    ends monday.

    • it states that Nintendo Land is included

      • Indeed it does! nice catch.

      • confirmed nintendoland is included- I just bought this from JB HIfi the other day. Better yet, it's a disc (and not a code).

        • I think Nintendo land is always a disc. Could be wrong though.

        • They recently removed the game from eShop so yeah, definitely disc only.

  • Can still get the Wii u for $399 and $249 @ Target until 5th feb
