Depends what your after. For a TV it's not great as you can get that by asking…but for small items like a CD then the 20% off is good since you likely wouldn't be haggling those sorts of items.

JB are hopeless, my friend ask a stupid sales for "what's your best price?" and got the answer "i'm here to give you any best price at all" JB never willing to beat any deal nor do they want to sell you anything cheap!
I think you're right. In the old days when JB existed only in Melbourne in small stores in the suburbs they were very keen to do good deals. Now days you are lucky if the budge at all and certainly do all they can to not match competitors pricing. I think they are trading too much on the old belief that they are cheap when in fact they are not. Nearly everything in their stores now is sold at RRP.

Also without posting specific bargains how can we compare apples with apples, this is hardly a bargain. 10% off may still be 20% more than the cheapest place for the same item!

I wouldn't even trust big store like David Jones, Myer 10% to 25% sale, specially those "full price first item & second item 50% off", they are fraud using the "50%"!

Whilst on face value it is in deed a sale, I find these days the general 10% off is fairly lame. For me it isn't worth a +ve but at the same time isn't worth a -ve.
