Wonder what is the best value phone with a large screen to buy outright?

Have an iphone 4 at the moment, and find the screen size very hard to read and txt with. I do not need the best top of the range phone just something that is value for money and easy to read and use. Any suggestions? Oh and budget is < $400 if possibly, may even look at second hand, thanks

    iPhone 4 has a 3.5" display

    Nexus 5 has a 4.95" display(close to 5) $400

    If you are purely looking for a large screen go the for the Galaxy Mega

    If you are looking for value, go the Nexus

    Also, it should be noted that once you go from a smaller screen to a larger screen, you'll never go smaller. As I went from a Galaxy S3 to a Note 3 and now I find that S3s are too small for my liking

      I went from a Note 2 to a Nexus 5 and when I see someone usinga Note 2 in the street, I can't believe I used to use one!
      To answer OP's question, I highly recommend the Nexus 5 too. If you're happy to go second hand, I bought my brother a 16gb Nexus 4 for $220 off gumtree, which I think is amazing value.

    Theres a button in the settings for large text under accessibility.

    I've been looking at the Galaxy grand 5" for $300
    I know weak CPU… I don't play games!
    add cyanogenmod once support gets old and it will become new again..!

    and my alternative is the Moto G which has a slightly worse camera and smaller screen(4.5") but more CPU and better glass on the screen.. for the same price$300ish… You may get one out of the US for $200….

    have you tried increasing the font size in iPhone 4?
    Settings > General > Accessibility > Large Text.
