  I own that lens and it is a great price for it. A versatile all-round lens … bought it for around $850 1.5 years ago.
  When you don't have a full format body it's a nice lens and you can upgrade one day to a full format camera and still use it (EF mount).
  Match it with the a nifty 50 and you have a nice starter lens set.

  Saying that it is not my favourite lens … 4.0 is just not wide enough for me and I don't use it a lot anymore.
  My dream lens in that range would be the 24-70II … but this is a bit more expensive.

    Yes, I agree to mini_wombat that this is a very versatile lens. In saying that f/4 is not 'fast' enough compared to f/2.8 - I kind of disagree with this as this lens has an image stabiliser on it which will knock down 2 stops. Unless you are referring to the bokeh making stuff, then in that case you are better off with prime lens, as they offer much wider apertures.

  Good to see that it is "free shipping", as Kogan simply bumped up the price on the 700D body that I have been watching by $20 to help cover the free shipping.

  Yeah F4, not as flexible as some of their other lenses. But for the price, not bad considering the features.
