has tiger improved on cancellations and delays?

in case of a cancellation do i really need to apply for insurance to protect me to get a refund
4 of us flew withTiger from Sydney to Brisbane return I November
The trip up was fine
Coming back there were storms everywhere and our flight was late arriving into BrisbaneThis was all airlines not just Tiger
Anyway it turned out too late for us to fly back that night(curfew)
We were told if we booked a hotel and got the next available flight on Tiger they would pay $120 each accomodation
Couldn't get another flight for 2 days
Still not their fault it was the weekend and people were desperate to get to functions
We flew back 2days late after a lovely 2 days in a suite at Novatel
I sent the claim form in and received a cheque for close to $900 in about 2weeeks
I then decided to be very cheeky and ask for a refund of the difference between our dares
We were on $10 flights.our new flights were $80
They have written and said they have decided to give us a refund as a goodwill gesture
I think this is fantastic
They couldn't control the weather
In all they paid out nearly $1200 for our total of $80 fares

Flew up to BNE but had to change return flight - still waiting for refund. they postponed BNe MEL 2.pm ish flight to 9 pm which meant i was too late to go home on public transport. they were late leaving Melbourne but made it up on flight to BNe.
Up until then I had flown about 6 times to various destinations with no problems. You do know that you have a fair walk under covered way and across tarmac to board plane don't you? I always take a brolly and or parka just in case. JoyV
