  • Not possible. Someone is pulling your leg.

  • I can't really understand this, but here is where I got the picture from.. http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/2199930

I think that involves using some of the flexible credit to purchase data packs, essentially sacrificing some of your call credits in exchange for more data downloads.

This is an intentional feature and isn't really a loop hole.

at $8 per 350mb with $450 to spend, that makes 19.7GB, then add the 500mb already included and you get 20+GB!

    • on caps it counted as $16. its in the small print :(

  • My plan of attack: buy a Telstra elite WiFi modem ($29 officeworks/tarJ), unlock that using the many different ways, stick in a voda sim and away I go! Too good to be true!

Telstra elite Wifi (MF60)works well(unlocked). (On Back to school special at Coles $29 BTW).(using it and Voda Data pack to do this). Just be aware to get the DATA pack called Favourites Add-on, you need to have SIM in a phone connected to the data network (ie Can't do it online or via WiFi on phone.Use Vodaphone central app, then select pack, THEN need to wait 3 minutes before adding another. So 30 CAP plan recharge, most sims default to the Flexicap, make sure you change this, online select when recharging, phone with voucher after you add value, it gives you the option to select CAP plan.
CAP $30 = 450 flexible credit \ $16 (not 8) =350mb, do this 28 times PLUS 1GB B4 31 Jan, normally 500mb) = 10.57GB valid for 30 Days, charged in Kbs (Convert to data just before your 28 days credit expires, and get 2 months worth out if it. Data has separate expiry date see T&C's http://support.vodafone.com.au/articles/FAQ/Retaining-unused…
ALSO 2GB HARD limit (in one session) imposed by network.
ALSO 1GB included data is used AFTER Favourites addon , so use this first, then add data pack.(or bit both, whatever, just use it or lose it 28days from first plan recharge)
FYI the $70 CAP is best value =32.8GB or $2.13GB as apposed to Mobile Broadband at $14.50GB.(VODA MBB 29 for 2GB)
NO scam, nothing illegal and all within current T&C's. How long it lasts, well let's see :) After Peenytel(sic) went from 25 to 99.99 or $7.19GB this is the next best thing IMHO. YMMV e&oe etc etc

      • Cool, I've changed my mind and ARE now using my old Lumia 610 as the hotspot. I travel regularly to regional areas, but the Telstra elite didn't have the 900MHz band

        • "but the Telstra elite didn't have the 900MHz band" True! BUT, there is always a but :) Vodaphone 'Regional' uses 850 (technically WCDMA 800, but lets not get perdantic) SAME same as '850' I'm in the middle of butt f**k nowhere, CHANGED the setting on the MF60 to WCDMA (UMTS) and band 850 ONLY, and its works.

Quad Band UMTS/GSM Lumia 610 will work everywhere & HSPA+/HSDPA capable

          Great site for info http://whirlpool.net.au/wiki/mobile_phone_frequencies

So Telstra, Vodaphone 850 3G 'Regional'

        CORRECTION TO ABOVE;
re "you need to have SIM in a phone connected to the data network. Can't do it online or via WiFi on phone.Use Vodaphone central app, then select pack"
This is NOT correct, you CAN do it online here http://three.net.au/VFPacksPasses/Favourites/Home
IF you are connected to the vodaphone network via USB modem/doggle OR WiFi via Modem/phone tethering this link works, same with 'My Vodaphone' (link Top right, to check credit remaining). IF your modem doesn't have SMS capability you probably will not get the confirmation SMS. Sorry for miss information.

        • Cheers raver

  • About 2 yrs ago when I switched from 3 to Voda, the operator gave me 10GB at $30 per month after I requested to close my 3 mobile broadband account.

This would currently be impossible, Voda has changed alot since then and is desperate to make money not a loss to keep existing customers.

They haven't had a clearance sale or special 12 month contracts for mobile phones in ages.
