I highly rate this scanner/printer especially with the companion iPhone/iPad app! The automatic feeder, double sided scanning and double sided printing, scan to PDF and email using iPhone/iPad app, print from SD card, cloud printing, etc… are pretty amazing for the price in my opinion. Ink cartridges are also reasonably priced for genuine parts I found.

Reviews said photo printing is a bit poor but for office/work use (e.g. scanning marked up reports and receipts for expense claims), I found this perfect.

Good deal just be wary of a possible problem with leaky yellow cartridge. see google. Otherwise I've had this printer for 18 months no issues but with low use.

      • Good point- I don't really use it for printing very often and even then, it's black and white financial documents. It's more for scanning.

  • I am surprised this didn't get more votes ? I just bought one that this is an absolute bargain, normally around $375. This isn't a cheap as crap printer but actually a good one that scores highly in all reviews. Cannot go wrong with this, but I'm expecting the usual 4-6 week wait for the cashback. I once worked at a place that had cashback offers and asked why didn't they just discount. Response was that less than 30% of people actually go through the process of getting their cash back so a $120 cashback offer only costs them on average $40. I'll be getting my $120 cash back as I submitted the form today.

  • Anyone have any experience or comments on printing photos onto glossy paper with this model?
I'm not expecting top range prints and a little cautious with just a basic 4-colour ink system.

  • Just a word of warning, although cheap.

There's a major design fault with the printer, with renders it useless just after 12 months of use.. Basically the ink leaks usually the yellow

The fault appears not have been been rectified by Epson.. despite multiple complaints.

Have a look at the amazon and an other shopping web sites.
The inital feedback is very good for the printer, then all of a sudden, major problems with ink leakage..
Most reviews are either 5 stars or 1 stars..

I'm very tempted to buy one… and a second as a spare…… But looking at the youtube videos, the fault, is unrepairabl when it occurs…. and eventually will happen to every 4530..

    • As long as they replace the printer under warranty… I read somewhere that it is a known common fault and Epson are even replacing printers beyond their 12mth warranty period.

I would install high capacity refillable ink cartridges so would want to printer to last a few years.

Even if you eventually get two years of work out of it after hassles, before throwing it out ?it is worth it..

The refillable CISS system for this printer is around $180…

My fist inkjet with a CISS lasted 4 years,
The second limped along for 3 years.
the third is around 3 months and limping along. (basically broke it in half installing the CISS)

        For a $245 printer + $180 ($425).. I would really want 3 years out of it…

All my previous laser printers continued to works up to the day they had to be binned due to a lack of driver support or affordable / assessible toners…

  • For $125 and replacement cartridges (non genuine on ebay) are around $40 per set, you can afford to throw this out after a couple of years. The box also had a sticker on it saying if you register the printer they will provide an on-site warranty service for 12 months. So if it screws up before 12 months are up, they will visit on-site and fix or replace it. Not bad.

The colour photos on this are very good, but not quite as good as a photo printer. The printer has a rear tray so I put my 4x6 photo paper in that tray with a4 in the bottom tray which makes printing photos easy.
