  • Hi Rep,
Man..already have eco drive from previous sale..but this one looks interesting..must resist LOL
do you have watch with tritium ?

    • +2

Resistance is futile……:) None of the brands we stock have tritium. As far as I am aware, there are only very few manufacturers using it at the moment. Thanks

Not only do very few watches use Tritium paint for luminescence but Tritium light sources are largely illegal in Australia anyway, because of the miniscule amount of radioactive isotopes used in their manufacture.

Shame, because unlike luminescent paints used in watches like Neo-Brite which need exposure to light sources to "charge" and have after-glows that last about 3 hours tops, Tritium glows for a decade, sometimes more.

      • i want to buy luminox. is it okay to import from overseas?

        • AFAIK, and don't consider me a para-legal by any means, you simply can't sell or make things like Tritium-illuminated telescopic sights, watches, glowsticks or compasses in Australia, and I have known people who've bought or imported Tritium-illuminated stuff from overseas without issue or complaints from customs.

        • Luminox is the one that features the luminescence as the main feature. Of course, long as its a reputable supplier. Might also pay to call a few local stockists up with the price to see if any of them can price match or come close. We would love to get Luminox but they dont want us to discount!

        • There are plenty of reputable and authorised dealers selling tritium watches in Australia. In the luxury spectrum you have Ball watches - they're very nice watches but come with a price to match. If you still want a reasonable quality timepiece with similar styling to Ball then there's also Deep Blue watches with tritium vials:

I always thought the restrictions on tritium were based by the amount of gas which is why some watches can be legally imported and some can't.

Actually I believe Tritium is actually radioactive by itself.

Essentially you are holding a radioactive watch, since each glowing sector is comprised of a super small tube which contains the miniscule amount of Tritium gas.

According to websites online, Radioactivity in the watch isn't enough to penetrate the skin. However if damaged, it can easily be absorbed via sniffing it/licking it/ or via skin contact.

Disposal of the watch becomes an issue due to some materials being radioactive.

        • waw..this make me scared :( ; better I stay away

          facepalm

Tritium particles can only travel 6mm in air and 0.0006mm in tissue/water. Thus they cannot penetrate the dead layer of skin. Even if you were to crack open a Tritium key-chain and inhale the gas you would get less than 1000th of the radiation of a chest X-ray. The biological half-life for Tritium in the body is about 3-4 days before expulsion.

There are literally countless other everyday radiation sources the average person is exposed to that are far more harmful than a Tritium light source.

It's heavy-handed regulation in the US and Australia has more to do with our Nanny State approval process for anything remotely connected to thermonuclear weaponry (Tritium is an integral part of certain thermonuclear devices though in quantities several thousand times larger than those found in watches).

Essentially you are holding a radioactive watch,

Yep, it's Chernobyl on your wrist. Hiroshima under glass. If terrorists get a hold of Tritium watches, we're all doomed.

  • Any chronograph titanium watches on special? I'd be interested at this price!

    Hi Rep,
    Good to see you again.
I emailed this enquiry a while back but never got a reply, so I'll try here,
What's the best you can do on the Swarovski EcoDrive FB1313-03A?
Also, once upon a time, the FD1030-13D was $350 down to $129 but I didn't get in quick enough and it went out of stock. I was wondering if you were getting anymore of them in?

    Cheers,
    Cpho

    • Hello. The FB1313 is at the lowest we can do it at the moment and it still comes with a pair of diamond earrings. The FD1030 has not been offered to us as yet by Citizen so unfortunately no update on that as yet. Thanks

      • Alright, thanks for getting back to me
