What does AU stock actually mean?

Hey all!

I recently bought a laptop cooler pad from ebay, stating it was "AU stock" but when I received it it had Chinese & English (Chinglish) written on it? Which brings me to ask, what is AU stock actually? (and have I been short changed/misled?)

Let me know what you think!

AU Stock simply means it is in stock in Australia, and they aren't dropshipping from china/wherever. They're simply being a retailer with the stock on hand.. in Australia.
If it's not AU stock, it means the product they will send you is not located in Australia.

AU stock usually means you will wait 2-4 days for it (the item) to show up in your mailbox rather than 3weeks-1month as seen with most sellers located in China.

It's not quite as simple as that.
'AU stock' does and should imply different things depending on the item being bought.

For most items purchased on Ebay - yes - it does simply imply that the stock is in Australia and that you will (with a little luck) get it faster than otherwise would be the case.

However, if the item plugs directly into the mains, or requires a separate power supply, 'AU stock' implies (with a legal requirement), that said items be 'C-Tick' approved.

Further, in the case of electronic items like phones, tablets etc., 'AU stock' clearly implies - and is now well understood to imply - that it is product sourced from local distributors and intended specifically for the Australian market, with all standard local packaging, accessories, and warranty provisions in place. e.g. Grey market Samsung stuff from Kogan, and others, comes with a 1 year warranty that they arrange with repairers. AU stock has manufacturer's 2 year warranty.

    • ah thanks, yeah I was under the assumption it applied similarly to phones etc.
