Shipping a car

Hey,

I need to have a Toyota Camry 2003 shipped from Sydney to Cairns in the next month or so. I've been looking around and there seem to be a lot of different companies offering these services.

Does anyone have experience with any of these companies to share? Any recommendations for quality service /price?

Thanks

Just be careful I paid a company a few years ago to transport a car from Melbourne to Perth and they drove it there instead! Really dodgy, they hooned in it and smoked also. Arrived with bug splatter on half the car at 3AM in the morning. Was not impressed to say the least and never got any compensation for the damage or KMS done to the car.

Just pay the little extra and go with a known reputable company. I heard CEVA is good.

    • Yes :) +1 Ceva

  • I used Ceva when I went from Gold Coast > Melbourne; great service and price was pretty reasonable. Was nice having a person pick my car up that actually knew things.

  • Yes, definitely try CEVA, you can get a quote online at www.cevacarcarrying.com.au

Honestly, if you're not going to drive it yourself, for the cost involved & considering you're shipping a 2003 model, I'd just sell it & buy another up there; it will also save you mucking around with changing it over to QLD rego etc.

    …just my $0.02! ;)

A backpacker will drive it for free.

  • Thanks guys. I really don't like the sound of people driving my car up all the way. If that were the case, i'd just make a roadtrip out of it and save the money. Ill look into Ceva :)

    • Why not, you'd leave it for a valet to park it- wouldn't you …

In the 80's I drove a car for someone from Sydney to Cairns - was given 3 weeks to get there and had to pay for the petrol @ 40c/l.
I called into a local backpackers hostel, put a notice on the board for 3 passengers to share the petrol cost - next day drove away with 3 Danes and had the best trip of my life - backpacking/hostelling for 3 weeks.

But today I'd advise you at least get the excess as a holding deposit in case you never see your the car again :-)

  • Try the train..
