What to get/do for wife who is turning 30?

Hello guys.

My wife for 3 years is turning 30 (8th April) and I have been wrecking my head thinking of what to get her or do for her birthday. She has been a great wife thus far (and I plan on keeping her for the foreseeable future) so I would like to make it special for her. I was considering a weekend away (we live in Melbourne) and maybe buying her a nice bracelet(say budget of $400-600 or bit more if needed) for her.

Any tips/suggestions/experiences would be greatly appreciated. I thank you in advance for your much needed guidance in helping a brother out.

Thanks Ozbargain community!

I got my wife lessons for a boat licence for her 30th.

That way when we go out in the boat I can drink beer.

    • You are a legend! I am impressed with the innovative thinking :)

Any chance we could know when her birthday falls or a rough date approx.? So we could give some seasonal suggestions.

    • 8th April. I will update my post.Thanks :)

    1. Don't spend $400 plus on her, you're married so no need to impress her with expensive gifts.
    2. Plan to give her the weekend "off", total freedom to do what she would like to do
    3. to achieve that for her, you spend the $400 plus on yourself and go away on a fishing charter with a few mates for that particular weekend.
    • This is exactly why I sought some suggestions from the community. Great people, great ideas :)

For my anniversary I gave my wife my coffee card. I had purchased 10 coffees so she got the free one :)

    • This is brilliant! I love the idea :)

    • Girl sitting next to me has a silver Tiffany bracelet which she bought for herself and wears everyday. I have been thinking of something similar. Will need to check it out. Thanks :)

  • what does she need? what does she talk about that she "wants" or "would come in handy".

maybe take her on a 3day get away somewhere

    • A $10 set of beads bought on a romantic weekend away will be more fondly remembered than a $400 bracelet.
Go to Uluru or somewhere equally special.

    Tell her happy 25th?

  • What a lovely man you must be. Most girls like pampering, so what about a day spa voucher, or even plan a weekend away at a spa resort where you can be pampered together.

    Hope you find something special

    • I was looking at Daylesford and hoping to find something here. Still considering options. Thanks for your suggestion :)

      • Daylesford is an excellent weekend getaway for a couple from Melbourne. Lots of wineries, spa places etc. And for something very special checkout the Lakehouse restaraunt. They also have a hotel but I can never justify the cost of accommodation like that!

        • I was in Daylesford this week checking out conference venues. Peppers at Hepburn Springs (next town) has a v gd restaurant - Argus - and nicely decorated rooms. Can quite often pick up reduced room rates on wotif. Or ring them direct. Check out Tripadvisor for recent photos/reviews. Also good spa on premises - expensive tho. Public Bathhouse cheaper.

Yes Lakehouse restaurant v nice & v good.

Here's a list of what I'd love my hubby to surprise me with:
    Tramcar restaurant
    Limo ride
    Yarra cruise
    Hot air balloon
    Lunch on puffing billy

    From a girls' perspective :)
    Spoilt for choice in melbs
    Good luck

    • Thank you. This is good- she did mention Hot air Balloon ride a few years ago as something she would like to do.

  • Last year for my 30th birthday my husband surprised me with the tramcar restaurant, then a theater show (last year was legally blond) and then he had reserved a hotel with a view of the city. The next day we slept in and had brunch at the hotel. I thought it was perfect :)
