Selling $2500 professional drawing tablet to someone travelling overseas for TRS

Hello,

I recently bought a Drawing Tablet for $2500 even though I'm not much of a drawer and changed my mind after I had already opened the packaging in which I couldn't return it.

I was selling it for $2250. If I include the invoice I was hoping the seller could get it for $2000 with the Tourist Refund Scheme. The problem is the invoice is in my name, this person can say I bought it online for him but I'm assuming the name has to be the same as the person leaving overseas.

Can he get the TRS even though it has my name on it?

Thank you!

  • Can I claim a refund on goods purchased by someone else?
    No, the person claiming a refund must be the same person who purchased and paid GST on the goods.

  • If the goods is more than $1100, the name on the receipt must match your ID.

  • Ok, thanks for your help guys. I might try and sell it on here. But I might lose to much since were all Oz-bargainers we must have some sort of professionalism on getting a heaps good deal.

    • Try finding out a common defect on the product and try for refund.
      ;)

      • There are no common faults only annoyances I sent them a message saying;

        "It just didn't feel worth the money I spent on it, the speakers are a bit quiet and low quality, the stand is quite flimsy and hard to use, I wasn't expecting the webcam to appear zoomed in and of lower quality and I haven't been able to get used to it for drawing. I also find myself knocking the power button accidentally (bad placement)."

        I tried getting a refund under the satisfaction guarantee which I found only covers a small portion of their products. I also thought it had 30 day satisfaction guarantee for all products but I later found that was only for america which sells this product for $2000USD. We pay $2500AUD factor in GST, Exchange Rate it's still a inflated price and we don't get a real satisfaction guarantee.

        I told them I would let them refund $200 less so they can refurbish it, but I got no response. I'll try emailing them again on Monday. They seem to be a hard company to deal with.
