Best & reliable Chinese/Vietnamese <-> English handheld dictionaries

I'm after a reliable handheld dictionary to make a gift for my friend.
Thinking of getting 1 of the ECTACO but after reading this I don't have the gut to go for it.
Any of you bargainers can help or have any experience with ECTACO?

      Or an Android — or whatever mobile device that has no problem displaying unicode character + full unicode fonts. Then log onto Google Translate and it does a pretty good job I heard :)

        As buying this for "Baby Boom Generation" user so those 2 suggestions above are good but too complicate for them.
        Any of you know where this product made? As I tried to search for official site but can't find it.
