Help with 27" monitor upgrade

Looking to upgrade an old 22" monitor.

Was going to go for 24" but Mrs suggested 27" so the kids can comfortably watch movies on it. Would like to keep to lower 1920 x 1080 resolution so I don't have to spend too much keeping my graphics card up to date when gaming.

I've read IPS is the way to go though I'm not going to get the chance to experience the different monitor types first hand.

As I'll use it for gaming a reasonable response time would also be ideal (2 or 5 ms?).

Am on a tight budget and looking around $300.00 though I'm not sure if that's really possible to get something OK at this price?

Any recommendations or experiences??

Google the AOC 2757M

I got it for circa ~$300 + tax a bit over a year ago. It's an entry level 27" IPS and I think had same specs as the equivalent Dell model which was like 20% more at the time. Can't fault it for the price I paid, definitely shits all over the standard LCD's they have at work.

The specs tab lists it as 5ms - but that is an error by shopping express. The manufacturer website shows it as 2ms :-)

go into JB or OW something and view the monitors yourself the difference between IPS and regular TN

IPS is the way to go

For around the 320 mark
AOC I2757FH or LG 27EA53V-P

are your two options

be wary if you have an old graphics card…..many new monitors may not support DVI
though if your looking at IPS you really should be using HDMI to do it justice
