the ones you are hiring though are probably closer to around $500, they aren't Kmart specials.
ride a $100 Kmart special, then go ride a $500 mountain bike in a bike shop and post back here if you can't tell the difference…
This kind of attitude will eventually catch up with our society. If someone buys a $100 bike to use once and throw away (whether immediately or 12 months after it sits in a garage rusting away), it's a waste of resources, waste of energy to manufacture and ship, and a waste of landfill. If all someone needs is a single use of the bike, renting it makes perfect sense. Or buy second hand and resell it when done.
