Sea Kayak

Good evening everyone,

I'm looking for two Sea Kayaks for the Mrs and I. We live in Springfield Lakes but are willing to travel pretty much anywhere in brisbane and we're both fairly light (60kg and 80kg) so we don't need one with a massive weight limit.

We're looking for the best value for money and honestly aren't too sure what I should be looking for as I've only been sea kayaking once as a work thingy.

Any information on what I should be looking for will be greatly appreciated as well as any deals anybody can find for me.

Thanks heaps,

May the bargains be ever in your favour.

  • Asa. Start I would hit gumtree . That is where we picked up ours from. It was more than 50% off the original price and allowed us to try kayaking before we invested a lot of money for something we might have ended up not liking

  • been - once as a work thingy

Dunno of the hire situation near you, but i'd suggest hiring a couple of times, talk to the owners and see what they recommend. Not necessarily to buy from them. (they may not even do sales) Maybe try out different models/variants if avail to see what suits. Best to spend a little money upfront before splurging on 2 and then realising you don't want to continue with it.

  • A workmate just bought one of these:

I'm considering getting the same one. I wouldn't use it for fishing, more for the fun and a bit of photography.

Any other recommendations that I can compare against this one?

Also, as a family we only have two sedans (Commodores). Any suggestions on good value roof racks (or any other transport solutions)?.
