Cracked iPhone 4S screen repair - recommendations?

Hey everyone,

I'm looking to get my wife's 4S screen replaced - any good experiences or repairer recommendations in Sydney (preferably near the inner west / inner city)?
Don't want to repair it myself - would rather get it done professionally.

I like the look of Fixpod.com.au in Broadway, but they sound a little pricey at $89. At the end of the day though, we're happy to pay a bit extra for a good job. My friend had his screen replaced for cheap by one of those generic phone carts and it was terrible (not flush, etc).

cheers

Shame you're not in Melbourne, we have iPhone repair stations at most shopping centers and even 'established' franchises like mkc repairs.

The thing with iPhone screen repairs is that ANYONE can do it. It's cheap and the tools&screen itself are widely available.

For a cheap third party fix, I see anything from $30-$60 replacements whilst you stand and watch.

It's up to you in regards to what you pick, but just know that the phonepod staff wouldn't be professionals either.

EDIT: Some apple stores replace screens too.

There is a repair store in burwood Westfield, i cant remmber how much but their work look good.
Another cheap opition see gumtree ads. You will find a profession work with cheap price. I remember my friend fixed his iphone for $40, and look like new.

By the way DIY its kind of easy, a lot of youtubes out there. Just order what you need from ebay

To be honest, I'd invest that $40-50 into a new phone instead, I know it can't get a new phone, but it's about 20-30% there, rather than fixing something that won't be worth that much very soon.

Technology just moves too quickly to be worth repairing, imho

    • You jest?

$40-50 phone even new compared to an iphone4s or even a galaxy 3 etc

They are different animals and a lot different experiences.

My recommendation is to either get the repair done at the apple store or sell the cracked screen one and get a new one.

A 16gb 4s can sell with cracked screen for $200.
If you hunt around you can find a near new replacement for $250 (if you're quick on eBay) or $280 on gumtree.

I've had several ones with aftermarket replaced screens come into my hands and they are NeVer as good as one without. I've had screen replacements cause dodgy dock connectors, ear piece disconnections, flickering screens, loss of touch sensitivity and aesthetic things like not being flush.

Someone will pick up your cracked screen one for $200 no worries (I put them on gumtree for that and they sell within the day)

Check out http://iexperts.com.au/ I think they are the ones the Apple store refer people to to get new screens.

My daughter broke her screen while visiting Sydney, she took the phone to them and it was repaired in no time for a good price.

    Cheerz Wabster.

I went to a stall in middle of Paddys markets for replacement of my 4S screen. It was on a corner and backed onto a toy stall (also in a corner) Think they were Chinese couple and their son fixed phone. Took about 30 mins and cost $55 I think. Good experience to stay and watch phone taken into about 30 little bits, but also bit nerve wrecking too

  • iphone 4s screen is $40,then They will ask your installation,so the total will be $80, but if you buy the screen online, then fix it by yourself, it will cost $50, and if you don't know where to buy it ,click http://www.cshidworld.com to buy it. certainly if you just don't know how to fix it ,you may learn it from the repairing videos from youtube.
