PayPal account

Anyone know if you can send and receive money even if you dont add a credit or debit card?

  • I do not see why not

  • Yes definitely you can have a paypal account without linking a credit card, but you need to have a valid bank account.

  • That's right, you can operate a Paypal account purely via a bank account BUT, your payments will always be in the form of a Paypal "echeque". Paypal take the money from your bank account almost immediately then hold on to it to use in the short term money markets before passing it on to a seller. Sometimes delays (from you making payment to seller receiving) can be up to 10 days.

You are better to link the account with abank account debit card (which has the mastercard or visa logo) as this acts as security so payment goes straight through (I'm sure I have that right but not 100% about it).

    • Prepaid/gift Visa/Mastercard etc., can, as of recentish times, also be Paypal linked.
