Switching electricity providers in VIC

I'm moving in about 2 weeks and I'm thinking of switching my electricity provider. I think I'm getting ripped a new hole by Energy Australia but since I know next to nothing about tariffs/supply charges/usage etc. I could be wrong. Have been on the Flexi Saver plan since 2010 with a 3% discount off the bill (absolutely tragical, AFAIK). Moving to a 2 bedroom unit with no gas connection, so it's completely powered by electricity including reverse cycle air-conditioning.

Is anyone able to give some advice on which provider would be a good one to switch to? Or if I should stay with what I have? Or just go caveman and live without electricity (haha, no.)

Please and thanks.

  • i'm with lumo. i'm getting 15% off. i'm thinking switch to someone else. saw dodo was pretty good. like 30%off electricity. 20% off gas. but want to compare with the rates first…

    • Please dont look at early bird discounts they are deceiving… I've worked in this industry for 8yrs and i can say Momentum Energy has the cheapest rates… which means you get cheapest bills from Momentum. I was with EnergyAustralia and they sent me 800$ bill…. I immediately changed to Momentum and now im getting 240$ bill. So plz check unit rates….

  • Use http://www.yourchoice.vic.gov.au/ and https://mpp.switchon.vic.gov.au/ to compare providers and plans.

Red Energy and Dodo works out cheapest from my experience. Red Energy has a $50 sign-up bonus and Dodo has $25 if I refer you to either.
    PM me if interested.

    • Great, thanks for your suggestions!

    • Hi, I'd like your referral to red energy. Thank you!

      • Sent you a PM.

  • Any comments on Momentum smile power plan ?

    • Pricing is slighty cheaper than Red but no rewards book or referral credits.
