Induction hotplates - plugin, portable

I am interested in why these products are not shelf stocked by the likes of HN, GG, even Myer or camping stores. As an Ozbargainer, realise I can get a range of these from eBay, DealsDirect, etc. However are quality issues a reason why regular retailers will not stock them?

On the other hand, I'm interested in others' experiences, recommendations.

  • I've been thinking about one of these for the camper lately and you raise an interesting point - I can't recall seeing them in any bricks & mortar shops either. From the online user reviews I've read they sound like a great idea, especially for those with smaller homes, caravans and apartments. They only cost around the $50 mark and I figured it was a small enough price to pay for something that could eliminate my worries about naked flames in and around a tiny camper-trailer.

Over a year ago some of those major retailers were selling Breville hotplates. Bing Lee who also sold the Brevilles are now instead selling Kambrook branded ones.

My interest in these was to deep fry food outside. As none of the home deep fryers available today seem large enough to do a whole chicken.

    • These are not induction hotplates.
