Broken TV Options

Hi everyone,

I have just finally received my 50" LG PH6700 that was recently advertised on here at Bing Lee for $599.

After being mucked around due to not being placed on the truck for slated delivery last week (wasn't put on the truck in Sydney to Canberra), I have noticed that when I was putting the TV together that the whole screen has been smashed into shards.

As I received the delivery after hours (830pm) I am unable to ring this store, however I will be doing that upon them opening in the morning.

So really my question is where do I stand from a consumer point of view? Can I ask for a discount or reimbursement of delivery at the very least for being mucked around and then being given a smashed tv?

Any help would be greatly appreciated, as I normally get walked all over with these things.

You noticed when you put together or when unboxing? I would have thought they are quite well protected in their box.

Take loads of picture before you contact them. Don't ask for discount or reimbursement, ask them to replace or refund, or Fair Trading will be their next point of contact. If problem isn't solved, contact their head office and repeat. Make sure to write down everything they say. If it goes to no where, then Fair Trading it goes.

$600 is a lot of money to be wasted, especially here on OzB where every dollar counts.

  • When unpacking anything fragile it is always handy to have a camera ready.
Was there any damage to the carton?
At any time was the set or box laid flat? Some screens will break when laid flat or transported that way.
Box usually has written on it… transport vertically.
Contact Bing Lee and report it asap.
