  • Anyone have this Samsung TV?

    Not a smart tv

The Samsung is smart. The LG looks like it is dumb.

    • BingLee website says it is not but Samsung website says it is :)
      http://www.samsung.com/ae/consumer/tv-audio-video/television/led-tv/UA50F5500ARXZN-features

      • That's strange, as in the Bing Lee website under the manufacturer specs it says:

        Smart TV 2.0
Smart Hub - On TV: Yes
        Smart Hub - Apps: Yes
        Smart Hub - Social: Yes
Smart Hub - Pics, Videos, Music: Yes
        Fitness: Yes
        Kids: Yes
Samsung Smart View: (Clone View only)
        S Recommendation: Yes
        Web Browser: Yes
        Samsung TV Apps supported: Yes

        • I was referring to the productt highlights, where it says:
          Smart TV: No

        • I used the chat function on the Bing Lee website to enquire whether the tv is 'smart' and they said it is.

    • F5500 is smart tv, f5000 is not.

  • If anyone is considering the $999 LG plasma..

Spend the extra $86 and get the 60PH6700 (on the same site)

    • Thanks. Added.

  • Is the LG 60PH6700 - 60" FHD 3D Plasma TV any good? Really tempting at that price!

Picture is good if you set it up right.

Smart TV stuff is snappy and works well. Arc works great as long as you turn simplink on.

There is some glare so make sure the room isn't too bright. All in all I'm happy with mine… Have yet to try ps4/3 but I suspect it will be fine also.

Can anyone please help me how to price match officeworks online? I'm looking to price match asus 7 (2013) tablet

    • I'd like to know this, too. I'm on my phone and went through the checkout process online and didn't see any options.

    • You can redeem the Lowest Price Guarantee (LPG) by visiting your local Officeworks store, by fax or phoning in. You can not redeem the LPG via our online store.

^ The Lowest Price Guarantee can only be redeemed in store, by fax or by calling 1300 OFFICE (633 423)

      • Thanks OP, I price matched in-store this morning at my local Officeworks (which is directly across the road from my local Bing Lee).

  • I think you may need to call to place order?

  • Any one able to comment if the 50" Samsung TV is a good TV for its price? I'm looking for something to replace my existing 32" Samsung TV. Is that refresh rate ok or should I be looking for something better?

    • If you're worried about refresh rates and motion blur then just get a plasma and you won't have to worry.
You can get a Samsung 51" Plasma for $749.00 at 2nds World, brand new (not a factory 2nd).

      • The 51" plasma TV at 2nds world is not a Smart TV (its F5000). I bought the 2012 model E550 from bigbrownbox for $737 13 months ago, and the Plasma 550/5500s have Smart TV and active 3D, but the LEDs dont have 3D.

Seriously, this 50" LED for $888 is a good price, probably the lowest for a name brand 50" LED Smart TV I've seen in 2 years of watching the prices. When I bought my TV last year, they didn't market the 5500 LED in Australia, I would've had to shell out $1200 for a 50" Smart+3D Samsung LED then.

This F5500 LED has additional Clearmotion that enhances the 50Hz refresh to 100Hz. I've noticed that on LED tvs with motion enhancement on, weekend movies aired on Freeview look very artificial because of the soap opera effect. I think the networks speed up the movie frame rate to fit them into time slots. But fast action sports look fine, no blur.

        • Don't get sucked into Samsungs fake CMR, it's made up trickery to fool customers.
          http://m.cnet.com/news/fake-refresh-rates-is-your-tv-really-…
You can add smart features with an Android stick or a HTPC.
Get a Plasma and you won't have to deal with soap opera effect and sped up movies.
FTA don't speed up movies, it's your TV.

  • Just ordered the Nexus 7 2013 32G from Officeworks in Victoria after price-matching with them over the phone i.e. 5% off the Bing Lee price. Thanks for the heads-up!
