Top 100 websites offering Free Shipping Worldwide

seems pointless. more like a directory. free shipping doesn't necessarily mean best

    • +1

The reverse is also true. Paid shipping does not necessarily mean best. Imo, this book is a good reference for online shoppers (Ozbargainers included). The author ranked the popularity of each site according to three factors - Alexa's ranking, the number of Facebook fans and the overall quality of the website. There is no minimum order for each website and the country of shipment is also shown. This book is free and you get free updates after buying.

Its a good list to have. Thanks op.

Would have thought a web page would be better for info like this, cos of list being dynamic and all (instead of it in a book format).

    Just saying.

  • +1

Do people buy things from sites other than OzBargain???? If it doesn't appear in here, it's not worth buying :-)

  • +2

Gee, it says DinoDirect has superior 24x7 customer service. I did not know it was a fiction book. That said there are few sites I did not know about so worth it for that reason alone.

a physical book, shipped from overseas, with a list of websites that can change at any time?
    what decade are we in!

    • +3

As per the title, it is an ebook, not a physical book

This book may be handy for website, but my post is referring to the 'free shipping' gimmick.

Free shipping is a marketing gimmick, while you may pay a similar price for the first item, you actually lose out on any savings when it comes to multiple purchases from the same seller. They will always pocket the difference in combined shipping rates.

    Simple example.

(Seller 1)- sells perfume @ $50 each, free shipping included.
    x1 perfume delivered for $50
    x2 perfume delivered for $100
    x3 perfume delivered for $150

(Seller 2) sells perfume @ $40 + $12 shipping for first item & $5 each additional item after that.
    x1 perfume delivered for $52
    x2 perfume delivered for $97
    x3 perfume delivered for $142

    • Not always.

      • There's no such thing as free shipping. The same seller could price point in various ways.
Those offering 'free' shipping skim off the shipping cost.

        • +1

While it is true that there is no such thing as "free shipping", sites offering this allow people to buy in a different style:

A person can easily compare the price for one thing you actually want. They can make a nearly-instant buy decision, based on price.

When you think about it, there is a lot of work to pick out a bunch of items, put them in a cart, find out the shipping, then say "okay, I can live with that" for the total. The alternative is to see one thing on a website for a set price, and make the decision then and there to purchase that, with no reference to what else you may or may not buy from that web site - it makes it easier. Especially as after a period of looking, later, you may only see ONE ITEM you want or need.

Awesome list mrdavedave. Can I get it in ebook format though?

    • +2

      You're doing gods work son

    • +1

Thanks for posting the sites mrdavedave, made it all the more convenient for me to browse :)

    • +1

maybe this could be the start of a new wiki?

      • Out of curiosity - what did his post refer to before being deleted?

        • Listed the entire contents of the ebook.

I think the idea is.. I sometimes get excited when I see how cheap items are in a US store, but then after I fill up my cart, I realise that shipping is horribly inflated.
If I knew I didn't have to worry about shipping, I could easily have a quick browse through a catalogue and know what I'm going to pay straight away. Sometimes you add a t-shirt to your cart and shipping goes up $20 lol

The book is goodish- some sites never heard of BUT Aussies be warned - although offer "free shipping"- lots of times once you get to check out- refuse to ship to australia …if someone has compiled an aussie friendly site- even better- for eg : coach usa has now even stopped some RESHIPPERS from sending goods here…

  • Now expired at all three Amazon stores. Thanks regardless OP - looked like a good 'un.
