Suggestion to take an 80yr old for an old fashion "high tea" in Brisbane

I live in Brisbane & looking to take my mother for an "old fashion high tea" for her 80th birthday.
Does anyone have any suggestions for a nice place to take her & which is not over priced.

  • I got a special offer a while back now from one of those daily sites - Groupon, Scoopoon whatever. It was at the Rendevouz, a boutique hotel opposite Central Station in Ann St. It was absolutely fabulous and the French champagne was great too. Not sure if they still do the high teas or the usual price, but it was excellent. Also have been to Roses Cafe downstairs in Brisbane Arcade and that was okay too.

    • Thank you Janny26 for your suggestions but the only problem with finding a place in the city, is we would have to pay for excessive parking costs. Can you suggest anywhere out of the city?

  • I've been to the Sofitel high tea which was great however it might be over your costs. You could try this place just south of the river at Graceville http://www.forgetmenottearoom.com.au/high_tea_3.html

  • Take a look at Queenie's Traditional Tea House in Nundah, it's a great little place, very classic!

1279 Sandgate Rd, Nundah QLD 4012

  • That's why I suggested the one opposite Central…to catch a train. My 88 year old Mum still catches trains. Queenies is good too although parking in Nundah is getting harder too.

  • Spicers Belfour: http://www.spicersgroup.com.au/property/spicers-balfour-hoteā€¦

Easy parking (right out front) nice and quiet, great high tea (note it says 24hrs notice).

  • Hi,
if you feel like taking her for a drive as well, there is lovely high tea near Mt Tamborine … http://www.teaandniceties.com.au/ and with old fashioned service.

whatever you do have a lovely day with her :)

  • Thank you everyone for your suggestions. I'm sure my mum will enjoy her day.
