LED floor light in the shower is it safe?

Hi all,

We are thinking to install low voltage LED light in the shower area floor. Is it safe ?
The lighting store sold us one unknown brand one for 50 dollars, but we still worry if it's safe there.

Many thanks fof any reply!

  • Are you planning to install it on top of a tile? I'm not an expert by any means but there are so many things to consider when trying to install electronics in the shower area (e.g. leakproof, impact of water, will heat build up, general moisture in the atmosphere, source of power, etc).

Disregarding the technicalities of it, I have to ask what you're trying to achieve. If you're aiming to get any decent amount of light it'll be awkward to be blinded by looking down. If you're just trying to get strips or something which help you find your way like in a cinema (shrug again), then I guess that could work but would still be very odd.

  • I'd be more worried about breaking the water seal in the shower before the lights causing electrical problems… You'll probably want an RCD on that circuit at least to mitigate the transformer pack screwing up

But as per Jace88 mentions, it will probably look really weird. But to each their own :)
