Reliable in-car mobile holder

Hi there,

I'm looking for a reliable, well priced windscreen car mount for my mobile, so I can use its GPS function.

I have a Nokia Lumia 1020. Preferably something I can pick up in Perth, or takes a few days in delivery. Or is a cheap, generic from eBay good enough?

Thanks,
BL

  • I'm in the same boat, need it to hold my Galaxy Note 3. I have bought a few from eBay but they break and loose suction after a few months (the ones around $10). Thanks for your help guys!

  • There's one I bought from a telstra shop. It's an official Samsung one which is able to hold my galaxy note 2 with ease. It's quite expensive but I have no problem with loss of suction even if I leave it in the heat for days or constantly removing it and placing back on the same spot. The arm is short and strong as well so it doesn't cause shakiness.

The holder expands with a press of a button and then can be adjusted by squeezing the side walls to place the phone firmly in place. If it can hold a massive note 2 phone in place, then it should hold any phone. It's not designed just for Samsung phones.

If I remember correctly, it was $40

  • does it have to be mounted to the windscreen?

    what about this http://store.apple.com/au/product/HC299ZM/A/kenu-airframe-po…

  • If you buy a suction mount, especially if it's a cheap one, but even if it isn't, and you want it to keep on sucking, and you park in the open, and your vehicle has a boot, get into the habit of putting it there between drives.

If space is at a premium in the boot because of bodies being there, for heaven's sake get into the habit of burying them.

    Ok, well, that turned dark…

  • I gave up on the cheap options also. I even had that green sticky one that is supposely so great but my phone kept falling off. I eventually forked out for a brodit unit and bought it from mountonus. It is a reliable, safe, quality unit that is built to last. I'll be sticking with brodit from now on. You do have to buy the piece to match the car and then the piece for your phone. But I did find that the one I bought for my old Galaxy Nexus fits the new HTC One perfectly, so haven't needed to change mounts.

  • Hey I'm also in Perth and I got one 2 years ago from kmart which is still going strong. Pretty sure it was 10-15 dollars. It hasn't once fallen off the windscreen either. My current phone is a z1 which is a bit large but still holds it fine.
