    that's the way i roll dude :)

  • I have never watched Bluray on my $6000 Sony 1080P LCD. Only watched DIVX movies ripped from Mini Nova. Do you think Bluray will be worth it? I won't bother if it is not, as you will be required to open the case, insert the Bluray in the drive, then wait for ads and copyright crap for 2 mins, then wait for the menu and then start the movie. Do you think the quality is worth it for all the hassle required to watch a Bluray movie?

Your seriously missing out dreamscene. Lol…
Normal TV is about 480 pixels? Which is probably the stuff you download, the 700-800 MB dvdrip avi movies off mininova? If you also watch tv shows off eztv.it then heres a quick crack down on the specs.

Say you download a 40 minute episode of Heroes at 350 megs an episode. The pixels in that episode WILL be 480 pixels. If you download the massive file version of the same episode of heroes for 1 GIG, the episode will be in HD with 720 pixels…

If you want to try, download both versions and review the difference on your computer as the HD stuff isn't supported by most systems (as far as i know). If you compare the two, you will notice the difference in quality straight away.

Ok, now… Bluray, it runs at 1080 pixels, which is the full specifications that your sony 1080 LCD supports. Hence the sharpness of the video/images itself is almost triple the quality of your avi movies off mininova…

Before you buy bluray, compare the two difference episode qualities as I suggested above, and you will be wowed by the quality =P

Get a horror movie, sit 2 meters from the screen, and then come back here and tell me you won't scared lol… Cause bluray is so realistic in terms of video quality/sharpness.

      • He's juz being sarcastic. :)

        • Lol, when I first bought my sony bravia tv, I didn't even have a single bluray movie or even know of its capabilities till about few months down the track, haha… So I'm not surprised if theres people out there who aren't informed as well. Unless I am the only person out there, in which case I take back my words!

  • i download bluray rips also but only on films i don't think i'll watch more than once or twice but for movies that interest me i don't mind splashing out, i spent $80 on those four movies and also picked up terminator 2 - skynet edition for $30 from jb hifi [cheap as it's $45 in myers and $35 in bigw]

i'm all for 'borrowing' stuff from the net but it doesn't hurt to support the robbing ba5t@rds occasionally

    • Lol, the corporates must really love supporters like you who "do the right thing" and splash cash at them =P Although you can download bluray movies, but their like 30 gigs in size! But with all these HUGE download quotas available with the internet service providers around these days, I'm sure you can get at least 2-5 downloaded bluray movies per month. *I am not suggesting that you do go do these illegal things", but its merely a statement =)

  • you don't download a full brd rip man, you get the movie file which 720p is around 5gb-7gb and 1080p 10gb-12gb

i own around 30 bluray movies though which is more than most i'm sure

    • What the, which websites do you use for the bluray movies 1080p 10-12gb? lol… and where for the 720p movies??

  • use google man, when you know how to use it properly it's a pirate's best friend

search for brd5 or brd9 as they are the terminoligies used for brd rips that fit on to dvd5 or dvd9

    i can't link you though
