  • Wow! Nice specs - especially the pixels. What's the catch? :-)
Can you get some with Linux and a small SSD?

it's a shame that it only comes with a 3-cell battery. And wireless n would be nice too.

      • Note that the CPU is a Z520 - slower than the N270. So I guess you can run it longer than other 3-cell N270 equipped netbook.

        • By about 0.5W.

The larger screen more than compensates.

It'd have a worse battery life than a 10" N270 netbook with the same battery.

        • The Z-series of Atom is also on a smaller die (they were designed for MIDs) which can use fan-less design so the 4 cell here claims to last 4 hours.

Acer is stupid if you ask me - they put together a very nice package at a very good price but spoil it all with a 3-cell battery. How do they expect to compete with 7-hour+ batteries on 1000HE, MSI Hybrid and new Macbooks

    • well, you can always buy 6 or 9-cell battery, can't you? Why are you whining at this price :)

      Expect higher? pay more. period.

      • anyone know how much for a 6 cell battery? and where to buy from?
        thanks.

just like I can always get a chainsaw and cut out a sunroof in my car….
A number of reasons for expecting a 6-cell:

        a) time it takes to find, buy, wait for delivery of new battery.
        b) aftermarket batteries are always overpriced, hard to find and of poor quality (especially if they come from eBay).
        c) throwing away the original 3-cell that we indirectly paid probably $30 for.
        d) having it all the way we want, out of the box

This leads to one conclusion - all they have to do is charge extra $20 and include higher capacity battery - i'm sure vast majority would be happy with this as $20 and extra 50grams justify extra 2 hours of battery life….

A good user review of the unit is at: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=384275
At $599 (prior to revision) this was a great deal.

Sorry folks we have to revised the deal.
The new deal now we bundle it with Slim USB DVD-Writer or LG 320GB 2.5" eSATA+USB Mobile Drive (limited qty), which I think better value.
