I have used these guys quite a few times before and I am very happy with them. They use the cheaper generic frames however all of the frames I have received are of high quality. They use high quality lenses (Carl Zeiss, NuPolar, Varilux, Transitions and Seiko)

I have a pair of Transitions and a pair of NuPolar Divewear glasses from this store and they are excellent - they are already quite a bit cheaper than my local optometrist without the 15% discount.

Prices below are before the 15% discount and are in USD:
Shiiping is $12.95 and is not discounted

Frames are from:
$39 - Comes with Clear Polycarbonate high index lenses (Single Vision)

    • oh sorry, I didn't realise.

Edit: have found a different code and updated - is now 15% instead of 20% and is not a referral anymore.

Unfortunately unless these overseas vendors somehow allow Medibank optical rebates they just can't compete. Even though the local places tend to be significantly more expensive I have $250 credit each year with 'em..

    • Most people don't have private health insurance and $40-$50 delivered is pretty competitve

    • I dont have private health cover but my wife does.
she uses 39 dollar glasses for her sunglasses (Drivewear lenses) even though she has $250 to spend on optical she is still oop around $600 for the drive wear lenses in Australia. We paid $129 delivered for her glasses with drivewear lenses in them.

But I do agree if you want to use your $250 rebate then obviously this bargain isn't for you.

  • I've used Ausspecs in the past (WA company with private health rebates; they source their lenses from Asia I believe) but their frame range is pretty limited.

  • Wife and I use these guys… Much cheaper I think.

  • Don't forget Zenni Optical who do complete prescription glasses from $6.95US + flat $9.90US shipping per order. The main thing to be aware of when buying online is the frame width, i.e. the width at the arms, and you can filter on this under frame size
