Using a PS3 with Z506 Sound system

Hi,

I bought a Logitech Z506 5.1 PC sound system some time last year. I've now got my old PS3 in my room, and was wondering if it's possible to connect the PS3 to it in some way, e.g. using an external sound card with HDMI-in and Yellow/Black/Green to the speakers.

My setup currently is:
PC (USB) -> Sound Blaster 5.1 USB Soundcard -> Yellow/Black/Green to speakers

Is it possible to use this to have:
PC (USB) -> Soundcard -> Yellow/Black/Green to speakers <- Soundcard <- PS3 (Optical/HDMI)

Or, could this product work too? Sabrent 8-Chnl 3D USB2.0 ExtRnl 7.1 Surround Sound Box w/ OPTICAL Win 8 / 7 / XP

Thanks,
BL

    You need an adaptor.I used the adaptor below that came with my older logitech speaker set called the X-530's.

    you plug in your yellow,red,white cable into the the adaptor then plug a 3.5mm headphone jack cable from the adaptor to the back of your z506 and plug in your hdmi cable from your ps3 to tv and make sure you set the audio to play though the speakers instead of your tv in the ps3 settings.

  • You can use the above without the adaptor to just get stereo sound by using the AV cable on your PS3. In the settings menu you can make video come from HDMI and sound from AV. The adaptor above just duplicates sound to all the speakers, but it's only stereo.

    To get 5.1 surround you need to use an adaptor of some sort that takes HDMI/optical and outputs in 3x analog 3.5mm stereo jacks, like your USB sound card.

    Your linked ebay card doesnt support HDMI or optical input.
