Events Cinemas: 5 Movie Vouchers for $48 + $8.50 P&H

40

Hello fellow Ozbarginers,

Just remembered a deal I came across which expires today. Not the best movie deal but still much better than original price.

They call it the " Oscars Book of 5 " deal :

  • 5 physical movie vouchers for $48 (plus $8.50 P&H) valid at Events Cinemas. Works out to be $56.50 or about $11.30 per ticket but if you buy more than 1 set (i.e 10 vouchers) , obviously works out cheaper per ticket.

  • Vouchers can be redeemed at cinema or online (additional booking fee $1.10 for online booking)

  • Not valid for use after 5pm on Saturdays. Vouchers entitle the holder to one general admission to any standard session at Event, Greater Union & Birch Carroll & Coyle cinemas.

  • Vmax & 3D will incur additional charges

  • Voucher valid until 18th September 2014 (6 months from now)

  • Deal Expires 19/03/14 (Today)

Enjoy.

  • That's some expensive P&H.

What are they using? Overnight courier?

    • $8.50 is what they charging for express post. They have a courier option for $20 but i doubt anyone will select that option.

I guess these guys are too good for 60c snail mail.

  • Sounds like an alright deal for physical vouchers, although Telstra tickets work out cheaper at $10 each, and there is no online booking fee.

    • Agreed. Only downside is you can't use them on Saturday after 5pm, which is the only time I go to the movies.

    • I think Telstra has started charging online booking fees! Wasn't the case earlier though…

      • I last purchased tickets on February 27th, wasn't charged then.

      • Sometimes my Telstra tickets show as $10 with no booking fee, while sometimes they show as $8.90 with a $1.10 booking fee. I've never had a booking fee on top of the $10 though.

  • $10+ for a movie ticket is not a very cheap price.

    • If they didn't charge ridonkulous postage fees, it wouldn't be.

      • well even if they didnt charge any delivery fees it would still be $9.6/ticket.

Teltra and optus have $10 ticket offer which is 40c more but the up side is no online booking fees.

You said above that these ticket are not valid after 5pm sat but so are the voucher on this deal.

I usually go to the movie on monday night when ticket are only $7.5 with reward card or get my movie tickets for free from cokereward(these ticket are redeemable any day/any time of the week + free upgrade to 3D). So $10 doesnt seem cheap to me just normal price.

Why don't just get the FREE movie tickets on Groupon deal right now

Because 1) it's not free, you have to spend $12 to get it; 2) it's Hoyts, which has far fewer locations than Event in most states; and 3) there's a limit of two vouchers per person.
