OzBargain friendly gift for 21st birthday

So my friend(male) is having a 21st, in fact my whole friend circle is so I was wondering if anyone has some "ozBargain friendly" suggestions. Looking to spend $40 max preferably less ;). Needs to be a somewhat memorable gift so I don't look bad. Can be novelty gift gift/whatever as long as its within budget. If you guys could recommend some geeky merch sites or even physical stores with good gifts that would great as well.

  • Head to the factory outlets for maximum "impressiveness" for the least amount of money.

Just went to factory outlets today to find a business/formal shirt or two. Couldn't find any (not looking for any particular brands AT ALL, I was just looking for a few particular colours I didn't have) at a good price (under $50) after 1.5 hours going to various shops. Found 1 shirt that looked pretty shitty for $40.

Then went by Myer on the way back, and found 2 CK shirts for total of 70 dollars.

Factory outlets doesn't seem to be really "factory outlets" any more these days :(

Glue 21 $1 dollar coins within a photo frame - this will be something he can keep forever & treasure.

That is a bloody good idea. For a good 21st birthday and as a reminder of our OzB tightar$e and creativity

Not sure he would appreciate it the same way we would :S.

Give him $21 dollars in 5 cent pieces poured into a cooking pan and wrap it in wrapping paper.

Buy him some Eneloops. Everyone loves Eneloops.

    • I still don't even know what an Eneloop is, lol.

I just see the deal, click + if it's good, and move along. I have no need for some battery-related thing.

    • lol…I was thinking that…21 Eneloops…

If I had to go out today for a 21st to buy for and had $40, I'd probably go out and buy the big tub of Celebrations for $15 (half price at Woolies at the moment) and 21 $1 scratchies in a row. I'd place the scratchies round the outer edge of the tub then wrap it like a gift basket in clear cellophane and an nice bow (with all the cellophane gathered and sticking up at the top - such an easy way to wrap and always looks more impressive).

Otherwise if there was something in particular the person liked I would shop around for a while before their birthday with that in mind - something usually comes up.

for my 21st one of my best pressies (I didn't think so at the time) was a tool box that someone filled with useful things like a multi tool, cable ties, lollies, torch, bottle opener, knife, lighter, writing pad, pens, etc etc etc. Just full of bits and pieces basically and over the years it came in handy on many many occasions.

You may even have some of the stuff already at home.

    A home brewing kit.

First batch of beer at no cost, then about $10-$20 for two cases of beer. Gotta love that!

    • Damn that's a great idea mate, will get everyone talking

  • Thanks for the ideas guys, anymore would be appreiciated.
