Buying second hand Roof Rack for Car

Hi,

I'm in need of roof racks for a 4m long kayak weighing 25kg.

I intended to get a second hand one cheap off eBay but am struggling to figure out whether it needs to be a specific length or not and I assume I need to buy a 'fit kit' specific for my car.

For example: My car is a 97 Honda Civic 4dr Sedan

Am I able to purchase this random thule roof rack

and this thule fit kit (which is specific to my car)

or will I need the exact model of the bar in order to fit a roof rack?

Thanks any help appreciated as I have no idea.

Usually if the bar and foot are the right type for your car, just grab the fitting kit new from somewhere which should do the trick. Cross reference what's on eBay with what's Thule recommend for your car is a start.

    • Thankyou, i didn't realise there was a foot component as well. I've found one with the right bar model and foot model to match my car so might purchase that and then get the fit kit. It's all making more sense now
