Do people believe everything advertised and sold?

ipad mini around 350$

ipad mini with retina around 480$

so for just retina and some minor add-ons people ok to pay ~130$ extra

So if tomorrow apple release ipad with super retina which will make a grass look like a grass people will pay 600$

A normal user or a parent buying it for his kid to use ipad will use his brain to not go for retina one and save that ~150$ to spend on something useful for the kid.

Same with macbooks and macbook with retina

Samsung should start learning apple tricks like acct like they never will reduce the price of the apple products and max discount you get will be always 10%

samsung going wrong by making products to be available cheap and affordable :)

$130 gets you quite significant upgrades. The 'retina' is a 2048x1536 screen versus the original being 1024x768. Then there's the body being lighter and thinner and the CPU being a lot faster.

But users need to start thinking if they need this stuff, and not buy into crap they don't need. As you say kids just want to play those crappy games, why would they need such a high quality screen. Hell, I preview my full-frame pro level camera pics on a 19" 720p monitor, yet people would tell you otherwise to only buy full HD and beyond.

    • This. iPad Mini Retina is quite a bit more than iPad Mini + Retina.

With the iPad Mini with Retina display, it's a totally worthwhile upgrade - the first generation will be obsolete soon due to having only 512MB RAM & an A5 chip, essentially the same internals as an iPad 2.

iHS Suppli announces a bill of materials for each iPad, with the original mini's coming in at $188USD not including manufacturing, paying employees, or anything R&D related.
Although there's no BOM for the retina variant, estimates were placing it at up to 30% higher than the first gen, such as referenced in this article here.

If the bill of materials is, even being conservative, closer to 20% higher, it's still a new generation product, and I think the price hike is well worthwhile.
