Music/Concert T-Shirts $2.50 at Dimmeys (Forest Hill, VIC; Possibly Other Stores?)

80

Cheap band/music t-shirts just $2.50 at Dimmeys (was $4.99 at previous markdown). They appear to be the ones left over from concert tours and genuine band merchandise that Dimmeys must have gotten a hold of from the distributor.

Wide range of bands/performers like Usha, Janet Jackson, Tim McGraw, The Killers, Swedish House Mafia, etc.
Would have cost a lot more originally no doubt - Which were not one of the bands I could see ;-)

Cheap t-shirt to mow the lawn in. Get one for cool Granny (Swedish House Mafia) or as a present for the friend's punk kid you don't like (Tim McGraw) ;-)

These were at Forest Hill (VIC) but likely at other Dimmeys stores too.

I'm not sure I would want to support a business that treats it's employees so pathetically….. http://www.theage.com.au/victoria/dimmeys-employees-to-lose-…

    • This is a bargain board. Take your fair business preach speech elsewhere.

The behaviour or reputation of a company seems to be exactly the kind of thing one would post in the comments section of a bargain.

If it concerns the bargain, it's a valid point. If a rep comes on here they get hammered every way from Sunday; why shouldn't elguapo mention Dimmeys terrible treatment of their workers? I'm glad he mentioned it as I was unaware it happened and will be sure to mention it if I visit their store. Good mention elguapo.

That's a sad situation but if you choose not to buy something there for that reason alone then won't you just hurt the remaining workers? Kind of like not buying a Ford Falcon you might otherwise want because the company is pulling out of local manufacturing. It would just hasten the demise of the remaining local workers.

Fair point but at this price point it is questionable if they are even making a profit so the skeptic in me thinks not buying them may be doing the company a favour.

Regardless if this company survives or not treating their staff the way they did is pretty poor form. I'm sure being made redundant is hard enough but having the company do it via a letter rather than having the guts to look their employees in the face and do it is crap.

Any way rant over, I'm not fussed if people buy them or not.

well if you want to blame anybody you could blame the government - the 3 million dollar fine they received was probably the start of all this trouble.

Not saying they shouldnt have been fined for breaking the law but - they should have had the foresight to see something like this happen.

        • +2

I don't see how this is the fault of the government.

This fine was the result of Dimmey's negligence.

Selling hazardous goods to the consumers without warning labels was Dimmey's fault. Not the government.

In fact the government is protecting you and me from the likes of these companies that threaten our safety.

On top of them treating their staff poorly, a business like this couldn't close any quicker in my opinion…

@elguapo I assume you've never bought anything from Adidas, Nike or any of those big sports brand companies that have their sweatshops in China, India, Bangladesh etc?
Or bought anything from anywhere that was made in a factory (cough cough sweatshop) where the workers are paid a few dollars a year & you paid upwards of $50-100, most likely more, for it??
Or heck, there's an ad on this page atm for Bonds! I guess you've never bought Bonds either…. Damn….what do you wear, & what do you eat & hang on, what computer are you using???
It'd be nice if people were treated equally, or fairly, or decently, or like they weren't scum…. but hey, our PM feels it's alright to treat people like they're scum, so why shouldn't companies??

You can bet your last dollar I have purchased something made in a sweatshop, nearly impossible not to. I have even toured a sweatshop in Dharavi, India. They were making clothes for GAP when I was there. But hey, we're not talking about sweatshops we are talking about how an Australian company is treating it's Australian employees. Anyway, I truly hope that one day you aren't on the receiving end of a company that behaves like Dimmeys sacking workers by hiding behind a letter, gutless management if I have ever seen it.

Any Rolling Stones t shirts from cancelled tour?

    • Not that I could see. Maybe they will be collectors editions ;-) Mind you I have seen the Rolling Stones lips logo t-shirts in Dimmeys previously so you might be lucky and find one of those.

Great, now there will be more posers who think they're fans of Swedish House Mafia.

Leave the great bands alone, don't expose them to the ignorant mainstream masses.

    • yeah! let good bands gain no recognition screw em!
      /sarcasm

isnt it their song that i'm always hearing on the radio?…..
