    How much is postage?

It's nice that some cat shelters now waive their fees when their numbers get too high. Gives a cat a chance it otherwise wouldn't have.

    • Is it because they pre microchip/desex them already? eg. its a waste to do the work only to have to put down the cats.

      • Yes. They really WANT to kill the cats, but it feels like a bit of a financial waste so they try and at least pass the value on to someone else.

Thanks OP, didn't really need a cat but ordered one anyway. Can't beat free.

I think this is a bad idea.the type of person who would be motivated by thus is not necessarily the type that should be owning a pet. Would they be willing to shell out for future vet bills and proper food?

I think they'd be better off saying that there are too many cats and hint that what normally happens is in store for these extras.

    • It means someone might be open to getting an adult cat instead of a kitten. People who keep kittens keep adult cats by default.

I think this is a thousand times better than free kittens, very responsible, and a great incentive.

  • I just hope with these being free, it doesnt get broden'd. Would be nice if we could all get one…

    Thanks bought 5.

      Is that you Broden?

  • with a kitten you never know how it will turn out (temperament) and considering the cost of vac's and desexing its a much better deal then a kitten.

    • Yes but with a mature cat, it's already set in it's ways so you might get the same result. From what i've heard, you'll need to get used to each other, so get ready to lock you and your new kitty in a room for a few days until that happens.

Even then, after that, you might still get an angry cat that swipes at you all the time, and hides in the wardrobe.

        food is always the solution.

        • im pretty sure places like this let you spend a bit of time so you can see if they are suitable.

Food usually works, but for example, the mrs prefers a lap cat, our cat is not a lap cat, cant be bribed with food.

+1 - will never get a kitten again.. turned out to be a c*** of a thing. Adult cat we rescued is a sweetheart. Pick yourself up a loving cat instead of taking a gamble on a kitten. At least you can see their personality a bit before you adopt them.

P.S. actually love my cats. sometimes.

  • Apparently its not a good idea to eat cats because of the risk of contracting toxoplasmosis (cat scratch disease).

    Otherwise, good deal.

Cats are technically a liability. So no freebie here folks.

a computer is technically a liability because you have to pay for electricity to run it. That doesn't mean we ban computers here folks.
