Try steam's Free To Play category. They're almost all MMO's. Good luck getting a certain amount into most of them without paying or investing your entire life savings though.
Off topic, and out of context, but if you're looking for anything free, might I suggest Dwarf Fortress? I've piled innumerable hours into it, I'm glad they aren't tracked because it would easily measure into 4 digits. (Takes a certain amount of patience though)
Guild Wars 2 is pretty good (if you don't have it already). It's the only mmo I've really spent a lot of time with, I couldn't get stuck on any other mmo's without getting bored. The world is pretty big, split up into sections according to levels, lots of events etc. Really fun to play. No sub either :)
I have no problem paying for a game, none whatsoever, but the subscription fee is criminal. This means that I have to play it, every waking hour, to get the most money out of my subscription. NO THANKYOU BLIZZARD.
If Steam or Youtube go subscription based, I am becoming a shaolin monk so I don't need to worry about capitalism anymore.
Hmm not sure if your post is fully directed at mine, but guild wars 2 is owned by Arena Net, not blizzard(World of Warcraft is blizzard, p2p) and there's no subscription fee for gw2, just pay for the game and play whenever.
I was just being a bit satirical. I was commenting on the fact that I like the fact that you buy Guild Wars 2 but you only pay for it once.
Whereas WoW, owned by Blizzard, saps your soul and wallet for as long as you keep paying for it. I know these things. Blizzard is Activision now too, you know, so it's no wonder you have to pay through your teeth for everything.
Ah okay haha. Yeah I refuse to pay monthly for a game I already payed for, that's why I skipped on TESO, it's a shame but I'm not paying 15/m for it. I don't have the time to play my money's worth of it.
Not to mention you have to pay extra for the Imperials I believe, which was shown to be the most played race. The sneaky capitalists.
Or maybe that was just a preorder pack, I dunno.
Rift is free to play and pretty decent. Reminds me of WoW vanilla and burning crusade.
ESO is out in 2 days, but you need to buy it, pay the subscription and then I believe there is still microtransactions on top of that.
Because capitalism. Am I right?
