Solar panels/inverters not installed according to the approved application

Hi, everyone..

I am in SA. I have a big problem with my solar panels.
Hopefully someone here can give me some advice or share their experience.
Thanks.

My situation is ..

I was planning to give my solar panel job to solar company AA with a 3kw solar unit, and AA also lodged the application.
Then within the cooling period, I decided to give the job to company BB with a 4kw unit.

BB lodged the application and got returned due to duplication (in 2013 Sep).
BB also informed me that AA already lodged the application and nothing would go wrong.

The panels and inverter with 4kw were installed and so as the digital meter from SAPower (in 2013 Oct and Nov).
2013 Dec, I submitted the Electrical Certificate of Compliance (4 kw) to SAPower.
2014 Feb, got a letter from SAPower, stating that my solar power system is illegal and I am not eligible for government feed in.

I forwarded the letter to BB company, they said they've talked to SAPower and were waiting for the job number (???)
However, I contacted SAPower, and was told they didn't hear anything from BB.

I tried 4 different numbers to ring BB and couldn't get through to any of them.
I left voice messages and didn't get any call back.
I am really disappointed.

I am thinking of asking help from cbs.sa.gov.au.
Is cbs.sa.gov.au the right place for me to go?

Anyone has got any experience or advice?

Thank you very much.

  • Have you contacted SAPower and asked them why it is illegal? I dunno.

Im not sure how it works in SA but in QLD, Energex sends you a 'go ahead' sms approving the solar install///

  • Is the issue that you got approval for 3kw and submitted a certificate for 4kw?

    • I reckon that is the real issue. Good luck dealing with the Solar company though

  • Thanks, guys.
Yes, the compliance of 4kw is the issue.
I should have pointed it out.
    I've edited the first post.
    Thanks.
