Alienware laptops?

Besides being renown for gaming, are there any other non-gaming pluses for getting an Alienware laptop? (e.g. day-to-day tasks, videos, music etc.). Would love to hear anyone who owns a 14/17/18"

  • Depending on what your "day-to-day tasks" is. I know people getting 18 for "work" doing software development & video rendering.

    • Day-to-day tasks = word processing, spreadsheets, media editing software, web browsing.

  • i use an 11 inch alienware at work all day. although while at work i do have it plugged into a 23 inch monitor and keyboard/mouse. its getting a bit old now (roughly 3 years old) but has been fine for all my day to day task's. I'm in the IT industry and also use it for occasional video editing (basic go pro videos).

    • Have you had any problems with it during the past 3 years?

      • only problem i have had is the battery needs to be replaced. but that is only because of the amount of use it has had over the years. it only lasts about 20 minutes on battery power now, but when it was new it would last for 5 hours easy. i used to leave it on not plugged in overnight (downloading) and it would still be on in the morning. i haven't had any other problems with it, that i can think off. the next one i get will have a bigger screen though. i bought it direct from the outlet store too, just checked and there's a few on there at the moment http://www1.ap.dell.com/content/topics/segtopic.aspx/product…
